Koi™ Katana

From the Musashi Platinum Collection comes this intricately handcrafted "Koi™" Katana. Using the Gomai-kitae hand-forged technique with 1060+1095 high-carbon steel results in a beautiful blade.

Gomai-kitae is a method of forging using five layers of steel, which consists of two outer layers, hagane and shingane, which are forged around a base hagane or kawagane core. The results are a cross-section of five layers of high-carbon steel.

The detailed maru gata style brass tsuba depicts two Koi fish surrounding the katana. The Koi is one of the most highly respected symbols in Japanese culture, representing strength and perseverance. Like the katana itself, Koi fish are known for their strength and tenacity, always swimming upstream against the strong current, overcoming all obstacles.

The katana features a battle-worn sageo atop a beautiful ray-skin buffalo-horn-style saya to match the Koi theme. The wood handle is wrapped in traditional black cotton cord, with ray skin. It also features a matching Koi Brass Fuchi and Kashira.

Included with this katana is a premium sword bag, deluxe gift box, and Certificate of Authenticity. Each sword is individually numbered on the tang and accompanied by a matching Certificate of Authenticity.
